The John Lennon International Songwriting Contest

Again, with the honor!

So, those of you who've known us for a while know that back in 1998, we entered a brand-new songwriting contest created by Yoko Ono and some others, called the John Lennon International Songwriting Contest.  That year, there were about 24,000 entries, in 12 categories, and we won Grand Prize in the Gospel/Inspirational category, with our song "Lions."
It was a very nice honor, and that was that.

But there's more.
So, flash forward 16 years, and we decided to enter the contest one more time, given as how we're going to stop touring after December of this year.

So, we entered a brand-new song in the contest, which has become so crowded they now have two "Sessions," with 12 category winners each time.  Much to our surprise, we once again took the Gospel/Inspirational category with our newest song, "Rise Up," a social justice song, rooted in the sacraments.  (The link to our version of the song is at the bottom of this post.)

Now we need your help to win Song of the Year.
So the next step is kind of like jousting.  Our song goes up against the winner from Session 2 in head to head combat, based on votes from people like you.  We're not sure what the end result is called, but assumedly it's something like the "Grand Grand Prize Winner," or the "Grandest Prize Winner," or some such thing.
You can click on any of banners in this e-mail to cast your vote.  Simply scroll down until you see our category in the bottom right-hand corner.  You can vote once each day for the entirety of the month of April, and we definitely appreciate your support as often as you're willing to stop by and vote for our song.
From the Folks:

Please also let your fans, family & friends know that they too have a shot at WINNING. The more each person votes the better chances they have of winning a brand new Epiphone Casino guitar! All they have to do is vote (each day if they like, for an increased chance of winning the guitar), and then enter their e-mail address into the prompt box after voting. One lucky voter will be shipped the Epiphone after the voting period!
